Origami Creations - Amazing Goat Design

I just found out about this goat design by the famous origamist Roman Diaz.  No one abandons a Roman Diaz creation so I went about making it immediately.

Excellent realistic shaping
I use baking paper to fold this design to avoid the thickening layers for some areas.  The result was quite impressive!

Awesome in B&W
I took another picture using Black and White ... so happy with its effect!  Would surely try to fold this with better paper next time.

For anybody interested to try folding this, you can download the diagram here.

Have a great weekend guys!

Origami Creations - Sheep and more sheeps

My fondness for sheeps and goats still so strong with more adorable models and designs which I could not resist but make them.

Here they are ...

Excellent shaping and proportions
First off ... sheep by the awesome japanese origamist Hideo Komatsu.  As usual, it has an impressive folding sequence and a great color change.  What do you think?

Nice massive horns
Second is by Seth Friedman ... the photo would speak for itself.  Again, he freely shares his design through the video tutorial below:

Cool design

Thirdly ... the classic sheep design by the japanese origamist Jun Maekawa.  A tutorial is also available below for your folding pleasure.

Finally, below is another simple sheep by another japanese origamist Usada Takayuki.  I enjoyed the folding sequence and shaping for this model.  You should try it!

For this sheep, you can download the diagrams here.

You should have a busy sheep week if you would take up the challenge of making these great origami designs.

Good luck!

Origami Creations - Modular Hot Air Balloon

I had a special papercraft request from my pre-school teacher wife ... a hot air balloon for their classroom.  Transportation theme is coming!

Looking through the web, I chance upon this wonderful modular model by the famous Oriland origamist - Yuri and Katrin Shumakov.  Check their website here.

Lovable modular piece
The children loved it ... obviously, as it is very well made and the colors are just awesome.

Indeed, it was a worthwhile 3 hours of folding and assembling.

Origami Design - Baby "Chibi" Koala Bears

For the 3rd of the baby chibi series ... I present my simple koala bears.

Cute and great proportions

The idea actually came to me when I saw this enjoyable video of a Koala bear visiting a hospital caught by a CCTV.

Eureka! Tried designing it using the base model and came up with this impressive shaping and proportioned model.  Though it doesn't have a lot of color changes, its minimalist effect is undoubtedly reflective of what it represent - the cute koala's.

Enjoy!

Origami Creations - Superb Color Change Animals

I thoroughly love simple with color change techniques applied on origami models.  If you may have notice, I have the same styling for my designs.

Here are models from a favourite japanese origamist - Fuchimoto Muneji with awesome color changes.

Geometric shaped Duck
The sharp geometric shaping and features of this model is amazing and topped with the color change for the beak and feet.

Cocky Koala
This is another cool effort and shaping for a Koala bear.  Seems like the real ones were in shock in the photo :-).

Great posture
Finally, this is an exceptional piece.  The rabbit posture and proportion is perfect in spite having no color changes.

Hope you enjoyed these folds as I do!

Origami Design - Chibi Rabbits in Motion

My second baby chibi design ... simple rabbits.

Sitting, Standing and Hopping
The model uses a simple origami base starting with the squirrel which you can find here.  Making the action pieces is inspired by the rabbits in motion by the famous singaporean origamist Ronald Koh.

The purist version :-)

Hope you all like this design.

Origami Creations - Amazing Wild Boar

It has been a long time since I have folded a complex model.  Looking for a good challenge I finally found this model by the famous japanese origamist Issei Yoshino.

Cool Spiky Tessellation Effect
It was an interesting and challenging fold as some shaping is involved .  Overall, I am happy with the result but I do really need to invest in better paper :-).

Hope you liked this and wish everyone a great weekend!

Origami Creations - Perfect Frog Prince

I found a great simple frog origami design with diagrams available in the web.  This is by the origamist Kota Imai.  Check out his flickr account here.

Cool, cute frog
It is well created with the underbelly fully covered.  Proportions looks great too and also has a movable lower lip.  The diagram can be downloaded here.

Hope you will enjoy this piece too!

Origami Design - Cute Baby "Chibi" Squirrels

As I have seen a lot of "chibi" origami designs lately, I have decided to come up with my own set of cute baby animals from a single base.

First off ... is my baby squirrels.  As usual, I go for the simple and cute design and with some adorable color changes.

Cute isn't it?
Through the support and kindness of Ms. Jenny W. Chan (www.origamitree.com), she has made a tutorial of this model in the video link below.  She also included the model in her blog here.

I had some wonderful ori-friends who has folded my squirrel which I would like to share with you here.

A quick and cute fold by Carlos Bocanegra

Hope you would like and enjoy my simple contribution to origami.  Have a great and safe weekend!

Origami Creations - Another Lovely Teddy Bear

I found this cute teddy bear design by Didier Piguel and anxiously folded it immediately.  It is so cute and more animated than Quentin Trollips' teddy which I have blogged here.

Cute and cuddly :-)
This fold was a tough one as the paper was getting thicker.  Fortunately, I am still able to shape it to my taste.

You can find the diagram of this model in this book here titled "Drawing Origami.

Enjoy!

Origami Creations - Goats Final Bow

Goats and more goats .... well its the chinese year of the goat so it can never be more appropriate to make more of them this year.

This is the Mountain goat designed by the singaporean origamist Eileen Tan.

Awesome shaping
The model speaks for itself and it is indeed a wonderful fold with unique and surprising steps.

I have rounded up my latest batch of sheeps/goats again for a group photo.  The first batch can be found here.

Goats/Sheeps on a cliff (part 2)
Hope you liked it.

Origami Creations - Friendly Neighborhood Spiderman

The amazing spiderman ... this was really a fun and exciting fold with its cool color change and shaping.  Model is designed by the spanish origamist Juan Fran Carillo.  Check out his flickr account here and be mesmerized.

Super dope paper fold
I couldn't find a dual color paper so I ended up coloring the blue portion (quite crudely).  At first, I was unhappy with the result but after further shaping, curling, twisting and paper clipping ... seems it turned out quite surprisingly good!

Below is another photo trying to make spidey hang from a building in Hongkong :-).

Spidey at rest
So liking this fold so much ... hope you all do too!  Happy weekend!
