There is an interesting field in modular origami which is very mathematical in nature as it deals with geometrical shapes. The term most commonly used is Modular Polyhedra.
From the word, polyhedron, which means a solid shape with more than 6 faces. The folding parts are easy but the challenging one is the assembling of the model. Again, it poses and interesting puzzle for which is quite mind boggling but enjoyable.
Below is one my favorite and most talk-about (my friends and family) origami piece.
