Origami Creations - Slow moving and Carefree animal

The Panda bear is a slow moving and carefree animal whose primary focus is to find and eat bamboo all day long.  It's cute and cuddly and easily be the most loved and adored animal in the world.

I have a soft heart for this animal too and enjoy folding the impressive color change effect to make one.

Lazy Bear

This stress free looking panda model is designed by the famous Noboru Miyajima.  As they say, the panda is a powerful spirit animal inspiring tranquil strength and determination.  Hope I can get some of its traits to be able to stay continually strong with a happy-go-lucky attitude :-).

Have a great weekend guys!

Origami Creations - Re engineered Panda Bookmark

I was in search of an origami model to fold as a gift for a former high school classmates' daughter visiting HK.

As I was checking the web, I came upon Trollip's Panda bookmark and decided to re-create it.

A cute Red Panda

It's quite a simple model but with an interesting color change fold.

More importantly, it gave a lot of happiness for a little girl who just came from Ocean Park and was able to have her own Red Panda Bear.

Have a great weekend!

Origami Creations - Panda Delight

Being in panda country, I always have a soft heart for this adorable animal.  I saw this design by the famous korean origamist Redpaper (Seo Won Seon).  Check out his flickr account here to see more of his wonderful designs.

Panda in the wild
This was a challenging fold especially with the shaping of the back part to make the model sit-up.    The best part of this model though is its cute little toes.

Enjoy and have a great week!

Origami Creations / Design - Panda Bears (熊貓)

When in Ocean Park - Hongkong, I can never miss to visit the Giant Panda habitat.  As always, they are in their usual selves - munching, lounging and enjoying "La Dolce Vita".

See for yourself here:

Ying-ying dreaming the Sweet Life :o).

A very famous icon here in China/Hong Kong and much loved and adored by the citizenry.  This animal is uber cute with its round body and distinctive black spots - eyes, ears, arms and legs.  Even more famous globally when the Kung Fu Panda animated movie was made.

In origami, it is a great challenge to make one because of the color change challenge.  I have tried it myself but I can only make one - a panda book mark which is using a Jo Nakashima base fold.

Here are my panda bookmarks.

True to its distinctive features, the eyes, ears, arms and legs are black ... and I added the bushy tail too!

When I have the chance, I will make a tutorial to share this lovely model too!

Have a great day!
