Origami Creations - Most Unlucky Year in Lunar Calendar

The Year of the Rooster is said to be the most unlucky year in the Lunar Calendar.  Well, for obvious reasons, its nature when feeding is to "scratch the ground and peck"

Here is a origami artistic rendition of a rooster by the japanese Gen Hagiwara.

It's a really awesome and simple looking model but quite an impressive outlook.  I am currently doing some of my own design and I hope I can be able to come up with better ideas.

Origami Creations - Who Prays to Cheesus?

I was trying to look for an inspiration for my next  ori-fold and came upon a silly image below.

It includes the spanish word "queso" for cheese and a combo word cheese + jesus.  :-).

So, a mouse it is for my next project!

Here is the cool mouse model by the japanese origamist Gen Hagiwara.  A challenging and tricky model but  I really enjoyed its unique form and shaping for a standing mouse.

Origami Creations - Ride Like the Wind

I am a big fan for this song "Ride Like the Wind" by Christoper Cross and it was use in a video to Save the Wild Horses of America.   (My oh my, the song intro is just so good!).

Got me a wild horse here roaming free.  This design is by the famous origamist Gen Hagiwara.

It has a real softness feel in its appearance and has a very eye-catching appeal

Origami Creations - Nature's Best Animal Dad

Watching "Awesome Animal Dads" is very reassuring ... being a Daddy myself.  

How some Dad's really go to great lengths to nurture his babies.  

Watch this:

And yes, to top it all, the seahorse carries the babies to full term (yup, getting pregnant) and delivering them.

Daddy Extraordinaire

I have folded me a pregnant Daddy here.  This is a design by the famous japanese origamist Gen Hagiwara.

I'm still in awe for the seahorse ... thinking how human mommy's would be so very happy if they can share the pregnancy with their hubbies :-). 

Ouch ... this I don't think I can muster to do.

Origami Creations - The Second Largest Living Bird

Yes, it is the Emu.  The second largest next to the biggest of them all, the Ostrich!  Good to know that both of these birds are endemic to Australia.

Amazing shape and details

Again,  this model is designed by the origamist Gen Hagiwara.  Quite a talented and impressive designer and you may find the diagram of this piece in his first book - Spirits of Origami.

Origami Creations - Amazing 3D Sheep

I was so impressed by the 3D sheep by the origamist Gen Hagiwara for he was able to apply some volume shaping to its body.  I designed one for the 2015 Chinese New Year but wasn't able to incorporate this technique.

One meaty Sheep :-) 

The head design is also perfect with the eyes and color change effect.  I enjoyed folding this piece especially for its attention to details on measurements (angles) to achieve the desired shaping.

Origami Creations - The Famous Chippetes

Have you heard of the famous Chippetes?  Well, here they are on "Single Ladies".

They are so cool but frankly annoying after listening to them for a long while.  

Now, I tried checking if there are origami designs for chipmunks and was fortunate to find two (2) impressive models.

Cute and cool

First one is by Andrew Hudson with a cute model.  Diagram is available in the Creased Magazine Issue 9.  You may also check his flickr account and be impressed with his talent.

Awesome color change design

Second is by the japanese origamist Gen Hagiwara.  Again, another terrific model with very smart color change technique for the stripes.

Hmmmmmm ... I should make me a chipmunk too!  Only time will tell ...

Origami Creations - Impressive Two Tone Cows

Another favourite of mine ... color change origami models.

Here are two (2) models of cows which uses the awesome technique of color change in origami.

Color and Body shaping at its Best

This first one is a complex model by the origami master Roman Diaz and the diagram can be found in his book Origami Essence.  It's structure and appearance is so accurate as you can see in the photo.  Other than that, I did struggle in my shaping as I nearly destroyed my kami paper :-).

Cute and Playful

Next one is by the japanese origamist Gen Hagiwara.  A more simpler model and allows one to experiment with the color change on the body.  The diagram fro this model is in his book Spirits of Origami.

Origami Creations - Cats and Lego Pirate

Other than origami, I also enjoy playing Lego.  The thrill of assembling and creating Lego is another way for me to relax and  practice mindfulness :-).

Lately though, I haven't bought any Lego set as they are quite expensive.  So, I just have to settle and play with my old ones.

Shoot 'em Cats.  Har, Har, Har!

This simple design by the japanese origamist Gen Hagiwara is a cool one.  It's action pose is playful so I just got to shoot it down by Captain Jack Sparrow.

Poised and so queenly

I found this second cat fold in my box and could not remember when I made this.  Though it seem elongated it looks quite avant garde to me and well worth the mention in my blog (sans the pirates).  Well, surely it will just snob them :-).

Origami Creations - Boxing Animals

Just seen a rough fight among ... kangaroos.  Yes, the "roos" and they are awesome and gruesome fighters - eye gouging and kicking below the belt included.  Yikes!

Folding a kangaroo is quite interesting and among the best designers, I choose the japanese origamist Gen Hagiwara who has just had an origami book published titled "Spirits of Origami".  Check out his flickr account too so you will be amazed by his talent.

Origami Creations - Musical Tribute for my daughters

I am so very proud for my daughters who both play the violin very well and has also completed the grade to teach it too.  This fold is dedicated to them - for all the hard work and determination!

It would have been great if I had applied the color change for the strings but I still have to make me a dual color paper.  That could be another good reason for me to redo this fold.
