Origami Creations - Amazing 3D Sheep

I was so impressed by the 3D sheep by the origamist Gen Hagiwara for he was able to apply some volume shaping to its body.  I designed one for the 2015 Chinese New Year but wasn't able to incorporate this technique.

One meaty Sheep :-)
The head design is also perfect with the eyes and color change effect.  I enjoyed folding this piece especially for its attention to details on measurements (angles) to achieve the desired shaping.

Wishing one and all a great weekend!

Origami Designs - Baby Chibi Goats

Here comes the 5th of my baby chibi series design ...

After making the fox cubs as blogged here, I felt pressured to come up with an even better model.  It took me days to determine what to do until I saw this funny crazy baby goat video ...

... so the baby goats were born :-)

Cute and loving :-)

so playfully happy

I hope I am able to continue doing justice on this design series.  One important thing is for sure, I am enjoying making them!

Wishing everyone a great weekend!

Origami Creations - Amazing Goat Design

I just found out about this goat design by the famous origamist Roman Diaz.  No one abandons a Roman Diaz creation so I went about making it immediately.

Excellent realistic shaping
I use baking paper to fold this design to avoid the thickening layers for some areas.  The result was quite impressive!

Awesome in B&W
I took another picture using Black and White ... so happy with its effect!  Would surely try to fold this with better paper next time.

For anybody interested to try folding this, you can download the diagram here.

Have a great weekend guys!

Origami Creations - Sheep and more sheeps

My fondness for sheeps and goats still so strong with more adorable models and designs which I could not resist but make them.

Here they are ...

Excellent shaping and proportions
First off ... sheep by the awesome japanese origamist Hideo Komatsu.  As usual, it has an impressive folding sequence and a great color change.  What do you think?

Nice massive horns
Second is by Seth Friedman ... the photo would speak for itself.  Again, he freely shares his design through the video tutorial below:

Cool design

Thirdly ... the classic sheep design by the japanese origamist Jun Maekawa.  A tutorial is also available below for your folding pleasure.

Finally, below is another simple sheep by another japanese origamist Usada Takayuki.  I enjoyed the folding sequence and shaping for this model.  You should try it!

For this sheep, you can download the diagrams here.

You should have a busy sheep week if you would take up the challenge of making these great origami designs.

Good luck!

Origami Creations - Goats Final Bow

Goats and more goats .... well its the chinese year of the goat so it can never be more appropriate to make more of them this year.

This is the Mountain goat designed by the singaporean origamist Eileen Tan.

Awesome shaping
The model speaks for itself and it is indeed a wonderful fold with unique and surprising steps.

I have rounded up my latest batch of sheeps/goats again for a group photo.  The first batch can be found here.

Origami Design - My Simple Sheep for CNY 2015

Finally, I got my own sheep design and submitted to the Japan Origami Academy Society (JOAS) celebration for World Origami Days (WOD).  Also, I used it for the International Origami Internet Olympiad competition  as my design task.

It will be the Chinese New Year of the Goat/Sheep next year so it is my fitting tribute to the best holiday of the year in Asia!

Simple and Sleek

Black is beautiful too!
I have prepared the diagrams for this piece and have asked some good pro ori-friends to test fold and provide feedback.

Below are their awesome interpretation of my design.

Origami Creations: Something with Horns

As the chinese new year of the goat is coming soon, I have been searching for some inspiration to design one.  Fortunately, I was able to encounter Shunichi Ashimura's goat design.

Look at this impressive model.

Lovely proportions and color change

I enjoyed the body shaping and more importantly to have both horns and ears on its head.  This will be a great challenge for me but quite a helpful learning experience to be able to fold this model.

Hope to be able to design one before the big CNY!
