Origami Creations - The Coolest Rabbit Fold

This is one of my favourite fold - Rabbit by the famous japanese origamist Jun Maekawa.

Super cool

It's an intermediate level fold and quite impressed with it's 3D shaped head.  You may try making this model with the below video tutorial.

Origami Creations - Sheep and more sheeps

My fondness for sheeps and goats still so strong with more adorable models and designs which I could not resist but make them.

Here they are ...

Excellent shaping and proportions

First off ... sheep by the awesome japanese origamist Hideo Komatsu.  As usual, it has an impressive folding sequence and a great color change.  What do you think?

Thirdly ... the classic sheep design by the japanese origamist Jun Maekawa.  A tutorial is also available below for your folding pleasure.

Finally, below is another simple sheep by another japanese origamist Usada Takayuki.  I enjoyed the folding sequence and shaping for this model.  You should try it!

Digging up my pile of folded works, I realized that I still have a lot of doggie folds which I haven't wrote about ...

Cute Chihuahua

This is the cool chihuahua by the famous japanese origamist Fuchimoto Muneji.  I found some video tutorials for this model here.

Adorable

Beagle, another adorable model by the famous japanese origamist Jun Maekawa.  You can find the diagram for this piece in the 20th Tanteidan Convention Book.

A favourite color change cutie 

This puppy by the HK origamist Jacky Chan is such a cutie!  You can find its diagram in the HK Origami Newsletter No. 26. 

Coolest

Last but not the least is Seth Friedmann's sheepdog.  It is so fortunate that he has shared a video tutorial for this piece.  Though a little bit difficult, the results is well worth it.

Origami Creations - Starstruck

Christmas is fast approaching and I have been starstruck for two (2) months now.  Yep, I have been secretly folding stars to use as ornaments for our christmas tree.

Here are some of the standouts.

Cool Six pointed stars

A favourite fold designed by the japanese origamist Jun Maekawa.  Encountered a slight difficulty but the result is outstandingly beautiful.

Lovely symmetry

Next one is from the lovable japanese origamist Tomoko Fuse.  The fold sequence is repetitive but quite smooth and enchanting.  This model looks impressive with back lighting.

Cool color change effect

This last model is by the famous modular origamist Carmen Sprung.  It uses six (6) square sheets of paper and be prepared for the challenge to insert the last unit to complete this cool star.

Origami Creations - Maekawa Seahorse (海馬)

I chance upon another wonderful design by the famous japanese origamist Jun Maekawa.  It is his seahorse.

I am very impressed by this artist as his works are very fun and exciting to fold.  I have wrote about him before here.  It was with regards to his wonderful squid design.

Same with the squid, his seahorse design is simple yet surprisingly unique and beautiful.  

With awesome ear flaps.

Now with the real thing!

Origami Creations - Love for Butterflies (蝴蝶)

Among the insects in origami, the butterfly is the one that I love to fold the most.  Aside from having so many easy models to choose from, it is the most beautiful and an elegant piece.

The butterfly model that I enjoyed folding a lot was from a japanese origamist by the name of Jun Maekawa.  I am very much impressed with his models as their structure is spot on and the folding sequence and measurements are clear.

Diagrams from Tanteidan 15th Convention Book

Though no color changes are made on the wings, I like its shaping and the inclusion of the head and its antennae. 

Just this past week, I have encountered some unfamiliar japanese origamist and was attracted to the color changes on their butterfly models.  First up, is Mr. Yoshi Tsuda.

Second one is Mr. Tomiyo Fukuyama.

Below is a combined photo of the two butterflies to include my earlier fold from my ori-friend Dimitris Dalas (Dida).  They are all so attracted to my luscious banana for breakfast.
