Origami Creations - Multi-color Stripe Cubes

Another awesome cube I found in the web is the Multi-color cube (Cubo Multi-cor) by Rita Foelker and the Line Cube by Fumiaki Shingu.

Again, its a model which I cannot be bored looking at especially when you used 6 different colored square kami to make it.  As usual, this model does not require cutting or gluing.

Origami Creations - Grizzly Bear Versus Alien

Another fun and playful day today ... it's the Grizzly Bear against Aliens.

I have had this wonderful Grizzly Bear origami for a long while now.  It's another Quentin Trollip model which fascinates me because of its outstanding head and body shaping.  And more importantly, the details of the paws on both hands and feet.  Awesome!

Who will win this match?

Again I scrounge my daughters toys and check what I can use for photo taking.  Aha, this cool wired alien bought from a HK anime event.  Just the right paring.

Origami Creations - The Tyrant Lizard: Tyrannosaurus Dinosaur

I seem to have been smitten by the T-Rex bug so I folded another one.  This time from my favorite japanese origamist - Satoshi Kamiya.

T-Rex Rules

Though this is a much older design, I still enjoyed the head and tail shaping for this model.  Compared to the Kade Chan design I folded weeks back, I admit I will still go for the Kade's as it is much more scarier :-).

Origami Creations - Growling Tyrannosaurus (T-Rex)

Saw an interesting video by the famous Hong Kong origamist Kade Chan on his T-Rex model.  I couldn't help myself to try making it sans the MC, wet folding and the special tissue foil paper.  I would really love to learn how to use those things to make my foldings alive though ... in due time.

Here is my rendition of this cool model.

Origami Creations - The Pureland Wizard

Saw and interesting wizard model by japanese origamist Hideo Komatsu which suits my taste - pureland/simple and cute.  Even more fortunate as the diagram is given for free once you complete a survey form.

The flow sequence of the fold is phenomenal.  Enjoyed it a whole lot and surely can learn something from it!

Origami Creations - Lovely Pelicans

Finally had an opportunity to fold a wonderful model from my favourite vietnamese origamist - Hoang Tien Quyet.  I and my daughters fell head over heals with his famous swan piece.

Now, this is his pelican.

Origami Creations - Japanese Tree Frog

In search of a challenging fold, I chance upon the Tree Frog by the great Satoshi Kamiya.  I had the opportunity to make a lot of his designs and so happy with the outcome on the Little Bird and the Lion.

This one is surely another cool project!

Shaping is tough but a rewarding fold

Really enjoyed this fold a lot but I would love to do it again with better paper for perfect shaping of the fingers and toes.

Surely want to try this soon!

Origami Creations - Little Cute Bird

So fortunate to have befriended a person who share my passion for making simple origami.  He is also a very generous person who shares his designs freely in his FB site.  The name is Shunichi Ashimura.

I have folded his works before and posted here.  Now, I'm doing his Little Bird creation.

Cool lighting makes Little Bird even more impressive

Quite impressed with his designs and so excited to do more of his works.  He actually has more new models against my limited free time to make them.  Hope I can have his speed and talent!

Origami Creations - King of the Jungle

A great feeling of accomplishment when I finally was able to fold another awesome model by the great japanese origamist - Satoshi Kamiya.  After making his octopus, elephant and then his little bird, I couldn't resist myself to continue and try more of his works. 

Here is my rendition of his Lion model.

The shaping of the mane may need further improvement but overall I am quite satisfied with the raw result of my fold.

Origami Creations - Lovely Cat by Edwin Corrie

There is an origamist by the name of Edwin Corrie that I totally love.  Reason being that his designing style is simple and the folding sequence is quite smooth and practical.  To top it off, the result is impressive!

Origami Creations - Cool Box Pleating Designs

I was so enamored by a box pleating origami model by a master origamist in the name of Tomohiro Tachi.  Check out his flickr account here.

I don't usually fold using this technique which is normally applied to make complex human form designs, but this one is a great exception.

This model is from an uncut square sheet of paper and you may find the tutorial here by another origamist, Mr. Peter Stein.

Mr. Stein also made a variation called "Cheers" (red wine and wine glass) but this time from a rectangular paper.

Origami Creations - Folding Nemo the Clownfish (小丑魚)

Just re-watched "Finding Nemo" the other day which led me to dig out my origami box for the clown fishes which I have folded long before.

I am a big fan of origami models with color changes and one of this challenge can be encountered with the clown fish.

First catch is Roman Diaz's clownfish.

Lovely

Next catch is Katrin Shumakov's (Oriland) design.

I remember making one by a famous Korean origamist Seo Won Seon (redpaper) but couldn't find it now.  Guess that is the one that got away :-(.

Origami Creations - Lovely and Amazing Little Bird

As I continue to clean my box of old folds I came upon a favorite one ... the little bird by the famous japanese origamist Satoshi Kamiya.  

This is an awesome model as it is designed with the bottom part closed. I remember to have been pausing a lot of times especially on the shaping.

Origami Creations - Mary had a Little Lamb

A lovely sheep model by a Korean origamist - Jeong Ki-Dam caught my attention.  I encountered some difficulty making its feet but fortunate enough to recover and complete the model.

Such a joy to fold ... now to take the photo ... Mary came to mind so I went to dig out my daughters' collection of small toys.

Mary had a CUTE lamb, right?

Hope I did justice to this sheep model ... I know Mary is just as cool!

Origami Creations - Anyone for Hello Kitty

Who doesn't love a "Hello Kitty" (Ribbon Cat)?

My daughter happens to see this cute model by Matsui Erika and prodded me to fold one for her. Quite a smart design and enjoyable fold.

What do you think of my photo?  Cool, huh?  For a smart design I thought of making sure to get a smart photo too.  Fortunately I have this origami kami paper in front of me and just saw the right effect.

Origami Creation - Beautiful Ballerinas

Just got a new cool and generous japanese friend in FB who makes very interesting origami pieces and freely shares them with everyone.  His name is Shunichi Ashimura.  You may view his works here.

I love the simplicity of his creations and their unconventional folding sequence.  The first one I folded was his ostrich design with the photo diagram can be found here.

Then, he showed his ballerina design which is pretty awesome.

Actually, the model is missing an arm (dancing) and a leg (sitting) but the beauty of the piece overshadows these deficiencies.  What do you think?

Origami Creations - Beautiful Mermaid

Digging up my stash of origami works, I found a lovely piece which gave me a wonderful smile!  

First time I made this model, I was so very impressed by its shaping and cute details i.e. the mermaids flowing hair, the body shaping, the dainty arms, the tail fin or fluke etc...

Unfortunately,  I cannot remember the japanese origamist who created this design.  It is from a book I borrowed from the library a long time back.  Let me try to do some research and hopefully find it again.
