I am so very fortunate to have talented ori-friends who are so kind and generous to render their services to test fold my design drawings before I can submit them for e-publishing.

These two (2) test folds were done by Rui Roda from Portugal.  Quite an experienced and skilled origamist and ori-designer who has helped me a lot in correcting my diagrams by providing accurate feedback/advise.  Check his flickr account and be amazed by his folds here.

Origami Creations - The Wise Old Owl

I was reminded of the quote "A wise old owl sat on an oak.  The more he saw, the less he spoke.  The less he spoke, the more he heard.  Why can't we all be like that bird?"

A food for thought of the day ... I reflected on this when I saw an old fold I made with an owl sitting on a cottage house.

Origami Design - My Flying Baby Owl

I'm back and more inspired to create a new design.

And this time, I finally decided to finish my first owl ... I made one a few months back but was quite unhappy with the result.  Then, lo and behold I have a bigger and better surprise.

Thoroughly enjoyed the color change effect and shaping for this model.  Quite excited to draw the diagram and share with my friends and family!

Origami Creations - Cube Art Origami

I've read about Cube Art Origami from the book of Mr. Kunihiko Kasahara titled "The Art and Wonder of Origami".  Quite interesting as this technique is described as akin to painting on a square canvas.

I tried it and it is such a challenge to work within the square boundary.  Here below is my fold on one of the models in the book.

Noticed the pigeons in the background?  Well, a surprising thing happened as I was sitting on the ground to take a photo of my fold, a huge flock of pigeons gathered around  me.  One even took a lot of interest and went really near my owl captured in my short video here:

Origami Creations - Fun models by Dida (Dimitris Dalas)

I had so much time to spare during the chinese new year holidays and finally had a good chance to fold some of the simple models by another talented yet humble origami artist - Dimitris Dalas (aka Dida).  

His origami pieces covers a wide range of subjects with levels ranging from simple to the complex.  I have yet to try his complex works but here below is my rendition of some of my favourite.

Origami Creations - Origami and Tess Combo: Tessellated Owl

I have wrote about my Hydrangea tessellation work and have decided to do other models to learn more  about this technique/skill.  Browsing through the web, I found an origamist who makes models using both origami and tessellation.  Her name is Ms. Beth Johnson.  A very talented and generous person as she freely shares her work and diagrams for others to enjoy.

Looking through her designs, I was attracted to her Hex Owl model and have decided to challenge myself to make one.  This is my finished piece:

As my tessellation experience is minimal, I honestly struggled to fold this model.  Nevertheless, completing it brings me and my family boundless joy and enthusiasm to do more.

It was a wonderful and productive weekend for me and I hope it will be for all of you too.
