Origami Creations - The Perfect Cardinal

Just the perfect simple color change bird, the Cardinal by the master origamist Roman Diaz.

Perfect profile for this small seed eating bird
From its head to its tail, its superb shaping is outstanding!  This is one of my favorite simple models to fold.

I wasn't able to find a similar tutorial for this piece but you may try this one by Leyla Torres of Origami Spirit.

Enjoy your week!

Origami Creations - What's an Ass (Equus Africanus Asinus)?

An Ass is another word for a Donkey which was derived from the acronym of the latin phrase Equus Africanus Asinus.  Tried to do some google checking and noted that their is no such link from the word "Ass/Donkey" to the "buttocks".

Now for the more important masterpiece at hand, here is my Ass or better still Donkey fold designed by the master origamist Roman Diaz.

Looking sad ... could be the ugly "A" word :-)

Here is the video tutorial (not sure if permission was given) to make this amazing model.

Enjoy!

Origami Creations - The Smart German Shepherd Dog

I am back to adding folds to my origami doggy collection.  Here is the German Shepherd dog by the famous origami master Roman Diaz.

Color change perfection
It's structure, proportions and stance is adorable.  It would have been great to make it with a dual color paper in black and brown ...  something I can add to my "redo" list.

You may find the diagram in his latest book here.

Have a great week!

Origami Creations - Love for Birds

My first origami was the flapping bird and since then my love for folding birds always stayed with me.  In fact, the traditional origami crane (ιΆ΄ tsuru), a bird, was made an icon to represent this art form.

Here I made a special origami crane.  Its 4 birds connected on their beaks.

Below is a photo diagram on the major challenging steps to making them.

From top to bottom.

I have also prepared a video below for your viewing pleasure:

Here are some  of the origami birds that I folded.
