Origami Creations - Modular Flowers for Kinder School

I had a special request from the boss.  She is my lovely teacher-wife who needs to have paper blooms in their classroom.

I started to make a difficult 5-piece flower unit and got bored.  So I decided to search for a more simple modular flower in youtube and was lucky to find one and added my own twist:  1.  Instead of 5 units, I reduced it to 3;  2.  Added twirls/curls.;  3. Use staples rather than glue to connect them :-).

Origami Creations - Christmas Stars and Snowflakes

In the spirit of Christmas I looked around for a star and snowflake origami design to use as ornaments.  One design attracted my attention, the Fractal by the famous origamist Roman Diaz.  Do check his creations from his flickr account here.

Awesome repetitive folding

It is not that difficult but you need a large and strong paper to be able to make a nice result.  Luckily, there is a tutorial video in the web which I can share with you.

Origami Creations - Lovely Symmetrical Flowers

I just found a cool origami flower through one of my instagram (IG) friends.  This is called Fiore II designed by Riccardo Colletto.

Its shaping is unique while its symmetry is impressive.  I just have to fold one for my collection.

At the HK Flower Show 2014 (香港花卉展覽 2014)

The Hong Kong flower show started from the 7th of March to end until the 16th at the Victoria Park in Causeway Bay.  It is to promote horticulture and a greener environment.

Surprisingly, this is my first time to visit the event.  And, had a wonderful time enjoying the sights ... enjoying the different flowers, learning floral arrangements, the beauty of landscaping and gardening.

I took a lot of photos and videos to share with my family and friends here and around the world.

Its a very long one so I broke it down as follows:

Origami Creations - Autumn Flower Tutorial

In my last post on the 15th of October - Tuesday, I mentioned that I have joined a competition for Simple Origami.  Competition winners were announced and unfortunately, my entry didn't make it.

In fairness, the top 5 origami art pieces that won, were well deserving.  The experience and opportunity to join a fun competition was more than a gift that will last me a lifetime.  I am looking forward to the next contest.  Bring it on!

And talking about gifts, I made a video tutorial of my autumn flowers for all to enjoy.  Hope you like them.

Simple and Easy Origami Flower / Photo Frame

You can put them on your table tops or on your plants at home.  Guaranteed to make  a gloomy day a happy and brighter one.

Place them on your plants - but make sure not to water them :-).
