Origami Creations - Cute Plumpy Mouse

I always find it difficult to use wet folding to properly shape my origami creations.  The models by vietnamese origamist Hoang Tien Quyet is really a challenge and for today I decided to do one.

Great snout and posturing
It takes a lot of patience and clipping to get the desired shape and hopefully I did this piece justice.

Here is the tutorial for this model.

Origami Creatons - When you wish upon a Star

Since my last modular fold of Gary's Star, my interest on modular stars began to increase.  Frankly, they are simple to fold and assemble but they guarantee to bring joy in my heart.

Here is the Tico Star designed by Maria Sinayskaya.

Lovely symmetry
It's unmistakably beautiful on both sides.  It is another simple model yet magical indeed!

Here is the tutorial for this model.

Origami Creations - Christmas Leftovers

I just realized that I had so much Christmas folds in my work basket.  Even though Christmas was two (2) months ago, I thought I should post my creations and share with the origami world.

Pureland Reindeer
My reindeer is from an old japanese book but I couldn't remember the creator.  It is a simple piece yet and enjoyable item to behold.
Cool Santa with Sack
This Santa Claus with Sack is by the japanese master Hideo Komatsu.  Undoubtedly an origami masterpiece as I very much enjoy its geometric shaping and rough and sharp edges.  Other than that, its folding sequence is surprising and magical.

Have a great week ahead!

Origami Creations - The Famous Chippetes

Have you heard of the famous Chippetes?  Well, here they are on "Single Ladies".

They are so cool but frankly annoying after listening to them for a long while.

Now, I tried checking if there are origami designs for chipmunks and was fortunate to find two (2) impressive models.

Cute and cool
First one is by Andrew Hudson with a cute model.  Diagram is available in the Creased Magazine Issue 9.  You may also check his flickr account and be impressed with his talent.

Awesome color change design
Second is by the japanese origamist Gen Hagiwara.  Again, another terrific model with very smart color change technique for the stripes.

Hmmmmmm ... I should make me a chipmunk too!  Only time will tell ...

Have a great weekend!

Origami Creatons - Wild Boar vs Pigs

From a biological perspective, boars and pigs are members of the same domesticated species.  However, the two are physically distinct and differ in their impact on the environment and their use of their habitat.

Although the wild boars are considered environmental nuisance and considered as pest, the flipside is that they are more intelligent and their meat is considered more superior than their farm-raised brothers.

To clearly show a wild boars' physical form, I have folded this model by the origami master Roman Diaz.

Trim, Strong and Alert with Tusk
Now for the domesticated pig, here is Gen Hagiwara's design.

Chubby, Round and more meaty :-)
Obviously both have distinct qualities and indeed both designs are impressively great (and the folder too!).

Hope the week is going on great for all of you!

Origami Creations - The Mighty White Rhino

I have folded a white rhino design before and blogged here.  But when I saw this simple model by Paul Frasco, I can not resist to make one.

Lovely form and stance
The diagram for this awesome design is from the Issue 8 of the Creased Magazine.  Some minor shaping is required to ensure its beautiful form and I am very glad that I was able to achieve it!

Wishing one and all a great week ahead!

Origami Creations - All things sweet in One

Hearts and butteflies ... lovely subject folded in one uncut square sheet of paper.  Yes, this is the design by the "Hearts" expert love-origamist Andrey Lukyanov.  Check out his flickr account.

Great Combo
The diagram for this model was included in the latest International Origami Olympiad (5th) held in October of last year.  If you are interested in joining this year, check out the details here so you can get a good idea of what to expect in this friendly competition.

Have a great weekend!

Origami Creations - Simple and Awesome Skull Origami

I know that Halloween is still a long way from now but I just could not resist to fold this design by the japanese origamist Katsuhisa Yamada.

Perfect symmetry
It is a simple design but all the salient features are taken into pinpoint accuracy consideration.  To better understand what I mean, try making it with the tutorial below.

Origami Creations - Impressive Two Tone Cows

Another favourite of mine ... color change origami models.

Here are two (2) models of cows which uses the awesome technique of color change in origami.

Color and Body shaping at its Best
This first one is a complex model by the origami master Roman Diaz and the diagram can be found in his book Origami Essence.  It's structure and appearance is so accurate as you can see in the photo.  Other than that, I did struggle in my shaping as I nearly destroyed my kami paper :-).

Cute and Playful
Next one is by the japanese origamist Gen Hagiwara.  A more simpler model and allows one to experiment with the color change on the body.  The diagram fro this model is in his book Spirits of Origami.

Hope you all have a great week!
