Origami Creations - Musical Tribute for my daughters

I am so very proud for my daughters who both play the violin very well and has also completed the grade to teach it too.  This fold is dedicated to them - for all the hard work and determination!

Adorable masterpiece

This is designed by the famous japanese origamist Gen Hagiwara.  Check out his flickr account and be amazed by his talent.

It would have been great if I had applied the color change for the strings but I still have to make me a dual color paper.  That could be another good reason for me to redo this fold.

Hope you enjoyed this fold as I did!

Origami Creations - Star Wars Tribute

Finally made my very own Yoda the master Jedi as designed by the awesome japanese origamist Fumiaki Kawahata.  Check out the many origami designs and books he has published here.

Cuteness and coolness master
The shaping of the lower parts (hands and stick) could be a bit tricky but with a little more patience and some paper clips ... Yoda comes alive!

Have a great week ahead!

Origami Creations - Lovely Hydrangea Box

Hydrangea by Shuzo Fujimoto is a favorite tessellation fold for me as it requires only a few grids to start making it.  Now that it is incorporated in a gift box, it made it all the more attractive and so gratifying to make.

This was designed by the very artistic origamist Dassa Severova.  You can find the diagram for this model in her awesome flickr account here.

Such a beauty <3

For beginners, it would be a bit difficult to make the flower so I recommend that you try it first.  You may also check my blog here for more helpful info.

Here is the video tutorial for this box.

Have a great weekend!

Origami Creations - Colorful Modular Icosahedron

Geometrical shapes are so pleasing and appealing that I just have to look for another simple yet beautiful modular to fold.

I have chosen this colorful regular Icosahedron with the use of Triangle Edge Modules by Lewis Simon and Bennett Arnstein.

Cool decorative beauties

Isn't she lovely?  It uses 30 units with no gluing required.  This will surely be one of my all time favorite modular :-).

Here is the video tutorial for you to try.

Enjoy!

Origami Creations - Panda Delight

Being in panda country, I always have a soft heart for this adorable animal.  I saw this design by the famous korean origamist Redpaper (Seo Won Seon).  Check out his flickr account here to see more of his wonderful designs.

Panda in the wild
This was a challenging fold especially with the shaping of the back part to make the model sit-up.    The best part of this model though is its cute little toes.

Enjoy and have a great week!

Origami Creations - Bucky Ball Kusudama

Another cool and easy modular is the Bucky Ball using PHiZZ units.

PHiZZ stands for pentagon-hexagon zig-zag unit and was created by the famous american math professor and origamist Thomas Hull.

Simple yet beautiful

With the PHiZZ units, you can actually create different geometrical shapes and sizes.  A lot of information is available on the web ... check them out.

And for those who are so anxious to try this modular, here is the video tutorial.

Happy folding!

Origami Creations - Funny Dinosaur series

I came upon another cool cartoony dinosaur design by the japanese origamist Shunsuke Inoue.  It's his Brontosaurus.  I folded his T-rex before and you can find it here.

Adorable Little Foot

It is so cute that it reminds me a lot of the animated adventure drama film "The Land Before Time".  Check this movie out cause it is really a great "feel good" family movie.

Sharptooth, Cera, Spike, Ducky and Petrie

Below is a short preview ....

Origami Creations - Lovable Parrots

Among all the birds, the parrot stands out for me.

This bird shows clear and remarkable features - curved bill, upright stance, strong legs and clawed feet, able to bob its head up and down and has the ability to speak or sing.

I went to search the web for a cool origami parrot model and found this.

Lovely lines and shaping
A very artistic piece by the vietnamese origamist Hoang Tien Quyet.  It would have been nicer if I was able to use the wet-folding technique.  Overall I am still happy with the finished product.

If you want to try this, below is the tutorial.

Enjoy and have a great weekend!

Origami Creations - Easter Bunnies

My tribute to Easter ... a collection of rabbit folds.

Bugs bunny look ... tutorial click here

My favorite one, tutorial here

Adorable model
The first one was a bit difficult as I only use copy paper and the model has thickened so much.  The second one is really a wonderful model.   Finally, the last piece uses awesome color change and shaping.

Happy Easter guys!
