Origami Creations - The Coolest Rabbit Fold

This is one of my favourite fold - Rabbit by the famous japanese origamist Jun Maekawa.

Super cool
It's an intermediate level fold and quite impressed with it's 3D shaped head.  You may try making this model with the below video tutorial.

Enjoy!

Origami Creations - Paul Rawling's Big Eyed Birdie

I had a great opportunity to draw the diagram and fold this original origami design of Mr. Paul Rawling aka "PaperPaul".  Check out his flickr account here.

His simple style and technique reflects my own so it was a wonderful pleasure making it.

Uber cute
It's a "feel good" model for me as I really enjoyed the shaping and smart facial color change.  Hope he likes my rendition of his genuine creation.

Have a nice day!

Origami Creations - The Wicked Witch ... A Mask Reprise

I enjoyed making the masks design by the famous Japanese origamist Hideo Komatsu which I have previously blogged here.

I just could not resist to make his latest one.

Amazing spiky nose
The witch mask is quite a cerebral creation.  From the proportions of its facial features, impressive color change and inclusion of a spiky nose, you can very well tell that it is a masterpiece!

The diagram is available in the JOAS magazine #148 here.

Have a great weekend!

Origami Creations - The Cutest Pony You've Ever Seen

I found a cool Japanese origami website by Usuda Takayuki with a lot of free diagrams to try out.  Here is the site - click here.

Super cute with color change
His pony design requires 60 steps and shaping the model is a must.   You can find the steps for this model here.

It's quite an interesting piece and I suggest you should give it a try.

Enjoy!

Origami Creations - Christ the King

I rummage through my papers and found an old origami diagram of Jesus Christ - the King of the Jews.  This was from an old book I found in the HK Central Library and was quite impressed with the simplicity of the model.

I remember not having any humans in my folds.  This would be a great opportunity to make one.

Christ on an invisible Cross
The proportion is not perfect but the resemblance is stunningly beautiful.  I took it a step further by embedding the model on a cloth to represent the "shroud" covering His lifeless body.

I was born a Catholic, raised a Catholic and continually seeks strength, wisdom and blessings from my Saviour.

Today is a special day!  It's my birthday and I am so thankful to Him!

Origami Creations - The Smart German Shepherd Dog

I am back to adding folds to my origami doggy collection.  Here is the German Shepherd dog by the famous origami master Roman Diaz.

Color change perfection
It's structure, proportions and stance is adorable.  It would have been great to make it with a dual color paper in black and brown ...  something I can add to my "redo" list.

You may find the diagram in his latest book here.

Have a great week!

Origami Creations - Who loves Tuna?

In spite of not having any color change technique, I was so impressed with this Tuna fish model by the Japanese origamist Fuchimoto Muneji.

Perfect proportions
Reminds me of the Tuna Tornado video I saw months ago ...

An amazing video for a wonderful week!

Origami Creations - Simple Giraffe for Tiergarten Schonbrunn Zoo

In support of the world record attempt by the Tiergarten Schonbrunn Zoo in Vienna, I have folded this simple origami giraffe.

Baby Giraffe with parents :-)
Their goal is to be able to receive 1,828 or more folded pieces.  Why 1.828?  This was the year when they had their first giraffe in the zoo.  For more details and a simple origami diagram, check this link.

Have a great week!
