Origami Creations - Swimming Fish

Quite attracted with this action origami model called Swimming Fish designed by Ng Boon Choon.  It does not follow any specific origami base but you will surely enjoy the steps to fold it as it is super smooth.

Origami Creations - Adorable Geometric Shape Modulars

I haven' done any modular origami for a long while now.

The completed geometrical shape figure fascinates me a lot as it has a classic vibe that will stand the test of time.

Here is one.  This is called the Penultimate Dodecahedron (12 equal pentagonal faces) by the pre-eminent american origamist Robert E Neale and requires 30 basic units.

Adorable
Impressive, huh?  No glue is required for this model so I love this design very much.

It is really easy and below is the tutorial:

Enjoy and have a great week!

Origami Creations - Cool Flowers from a Hexagon and a Pentagon

Origami designs using paper size other than the square has been increasingly used in the past 5 years or so.  For my case, I am very quite the traditionalist and have not moved on to even other geometric shapes.

There are two (2) models which have impressed me a lot with one using a hexagon (6 points) and the other one is a pentagon (5 points).

Here they are ...

Hexagonly beautiful
This is the very pretty snowflake flower (Flor de Seis Petalos) by David Martinez.  The photo above speaks for itself.   You may also try to making it using the video below:

Next one is the Sakura Star by Ali Bahmani.  A shape shifter of a model which is fun to play with.

Below is the video link for the sakura star ...

I had a great time making this pieces and I hope you can try them too.

Origami Creations - Dreamy Tessellation Land

I am back making one of my true love - origami tessellation.  Frankly, I do find making the grids quite boring and time consuming because it demands repetitive actions and accuracy.  Other than this, the choice of paper is also critical.  But, indeed, it is quite a rewarding effort to see your completed work.

All of these models are from Eric Gjerde's book - Origami Tessellations - Awe Inspiring Geometric Designs.  This is likened the bible of a book for this art form.

Enjoyed this pieces very much.  A friend liked my work too and suggest that I should frame them for display.  Surely that I will do!

Origami Creations - Riding like the Wind

In my search for some cute horses with awesome smooth and folding sequence, I have found these two (2) models.

Coolest and cutest

This winged horse is designed by the famous Hong Kong origamist Jacky Chan.  It's chiseled silhouette is just adorable and impressive.

Great posture <3
This creative piece is designed by the famous Korean origamist Seo Won Seon or Redpaper.  It's simple lines and outlook brings back memories of the wooden horsey toys that I used to play with.  It's got that extremely classic look.

Diagrams for both of these  models can be found in the book "Horses in Origami" by John Montroll.

Have a great week!
